Paste any AI marketing copy. Buzzwords with no mechanism behind them get flagged; numbers, %, and units (ms/gb/x) count as substance. The ratio is your score.

Our revolutionary, game-changing, ai-powered platform delivers seamless, cutting-edge synergy a transformative, best-in-class paradigm shift that is truly world-class and effortless.

◆Hype is a ratio you can measurenamed mechanism vs empty superlative

This copy scored 0/100 — 0 concrete claims (numbers, %, units like ms/gb) against 11 empty superlatives like revolutionary, game-changing, ai-powered. That ratio is the verdict: mostly hype.

Every buzzword promises an outcome; only a named mechanism — a number, a unit, a benchmark — can be checked. “Revolutionary” can’t be measured; “cuts p99 latency to 200ms” can. Once you name the hidden machinery, the magic word stops working. Score the copy, not the adjective.

Hype Decoder

Paste any AI marketing copy — a press release, a launch tweet, a job listing — and every buzzword with no mechanism behind it lights up. Numbers, percentages, and units (ms, gb, x) count as substance; superlatives that promise an outcome but name nothing checkable count as hype. The ratio becomes a single measurable score, so you can tell "revolutionary, game-changing, best-in-class" from "cuts p99 latency to 200ms." Runs entirely in your browser (0 uploads, works offline).

How to use it

  1. Paste (or type) the AI copy you want to decode into the box.
  2. Read the substance score (0–100) and its verdict — mostly hype, mixed, or substantive.
  3. Scan the annotated text: highlighted buzzwords are flagged superlatives, highlighted concrete tokens name something checkable.
  4. Try the Hype sample and Substance sample buttons to feel the two extremes, then paste your own.

What this clears up (the fundamentals)

  • Hype is a ratio, not a vibe — the substance score is just concrete claims ÷ (concrete claims + buzzwords). Once it's a number, marketing spin becomes mockable.
  • A superlative promises; a mechanism can be checked — "world-class" and "seamless" can't be verified. "40% faster," "200ms p99," "3x cheaper" can. Only named mechanisms survive scrutiny.
  • Named machinery stops being magic — this is the whole miatz thesis in one widget: point at the hidden mechanism, name it, and the buzzword loses its power.
  • Density matters more than length — a long paragraph of adjectives scores low; one sentence full of numbers scores high. Substance is about what's checkable, not word count.

Where it's used

A fast evergreen lead magnet for AI-curious readers, engineers vetting vendor claims, and anyone drowning in launch copy. It's a miatz build-lab concept playable — a teaching widget you can also learn to build yourself, feeding the AI-concepts learning module.

FAQ

What counts as "hype" versus "substance"?

Hype is a fixed dictionary of ~20 buzzwords (revolutionary, game-changing, ai-powered, seamless, 10x, turnkey, and so on) — superlatives that name no mechanism. Substance is any token that contains a digit, a % sign, or a unit like ms, gb, or x — something a reader could actually check.

How is the substance score calculated?

It's round(concrete ÷ (concrete + hype) × 100). All buzzwords and no numbers scores near 0; all numbers and no buzzwords scores near 100. When the text has neither, the score is 0.

Why is my genuinely technical text scored as hype?

The dictionary is deliberately small and literal — it flags marketing superlatives, not domain jargon. If your copy leans on adjectives instead of measurements, that's the signal: name the mechanism (a number, a benchmark, a unit) and the score climbs.

Is anything uploaded?

No. Your text is tokenized and scored entirely in your browser — nothing is transmitted, logged, or stored. Turn off your Wi-Fi and it still works.

Limits

A teaching model with a fixed buzzword dictionary and a simple concrete-token rule — it won't catch every euphemism, and a clever writer can dodge the flagged words. The point isn't a perfect grader; it's the habit: measure the ratio of superlative to mechanism, and trust the copy that names something checkable.
